Diana visited last week, and we did an early pumpkin carving while she was here, which Zoe LOVED! She was fully engaged and curious about every part of the process, and she fell immediately in love with her "pumpkin moonshine." In fact, now that it is starting to decompose, she is quite sad to see it turning into compost. To soften the loss and encourage the curiousity, we put the rotting pumpkin in the yard so that she can watch the decomposition process day by day. This special pumpkin was grown by Zoe's other grandmother, Baba, and Zoe picked it from Baba's pumpkin patch a couple of weeks ago, so it makes sense that she feels particularly attached to it.

This sweet photo was taken of Zoe and Nana as they watched a monarch butterfly on some purple asters in our yard.
One of Nana's many helpful projects while she was here was that she painted Zoe's swingset in Zoe's chosen color, bright purple. It has really brightened up our yard!
