It was a chilly day today, so we had a last minute costume change. Zoe had been planning to wear her peacock costume (sleeveless), but when we realized that it was going to be in the 40's, I suggested that she consider one of the warmer options from her dress-up collection. I was so impressed by how flexible and practical she was...she easy let go of the idea of being a peacock, and proceeded to choose the warmest costume we had, which was a wizard costume. She was toasty warm and cute as could be for the Halloween parade!

We carved our largest pumpkin this afternoon. This is the 4th pumpkin we've carved thus far, and we've also decorated 4 others with paint and collage, and yesterday we baked one and made a few delicious pumpkin pies at Zoe's request. Zoe is completely in love with pumpkins, scarecrows, and all things Halloween. She had her first experience with trick or treating this evening, and she seemed to enjoy herself. We went to 6 houses (3 of them were people we knew), and Zoe ended up with 6 pieces of candy. She gave away her chocolates to me and Lester (she doesn't like chocolate), which left her with 4 pieces of candy. She ate one this evening, and is patiently waiting to eat one more tomorrow. This is really her first experience with candy...in general she's not that fond of sweets, so it will be interesting to see how it goes!
