We spent an idyllic week in Maine this summer in the Belgrade Lakes region where Lester spent his summers when he was a boy. Above, Zoe and Lester take a break at the top of French Mountain, which has stunning views of Long Pond. Zoe climbed all the way up the French Mountain trail by herself, about a 1/2 mile climb!

The view from French Mountain.

Lester and Zoe explore the rocky shore on Watson Pond, where we stayed for the week. Watson Pond was so peaceful - no motorized boats allowed!

Our water view.

Our cute cabin on Watson Pond, which was walking distance to thousands of acres of nature preserve and wonderful hiking trails - heaven!

Zoe and her friends Max and Alek.

This is Zoe's first photo with our camera. We were canoeing and she turned around and said to us, "You guys look so cute! Can I take your picture?" How could we resist?

Zoe loved canoeing on Watson Pond, especially because there was a GREAT blueberry patch at one end of the pond. We loved canoeing on the pond too, and we saw tons of wildlife including a bald eagle and a beaver who torpedoed us in the canoe!

These last 3 photos are of Zoe and Lester at Sandy Cove on Long Pond, one of Lester's favorite swimming spots when he was little. What a treat to get to share this special place with Zoe!
