July 4th with the Humphreys family

Each year we celebrate the 4th of July with Lester's mom, sisters, and their families at his mom's house in Worcester, VT. It is my favorite family holiday. We spend lots of time playing outside, we watch 2 parades and 2 evenings of fireworks (Montpelier on the 3rd and Worcester on the 4th), and the cousins have a blast playing together. Above, Ginnie poses with her 5 grandchildren.

The kids had a great time swimming and playing together at the beach. I love that the "big girls" still enjoy building sand castles as much as the little kids!

More cousin fun!

One of the kids' highlights of July 4th is the candy that is tossed to parade watchers. Above, Zoe shows off her blue tongue after eating a blue raspberry lollipop.

The theme of the Worcester parade this year was Mardi Gras, so along with candy, people tossed Mardi Gras beads into the crowd of onlookers. Above, Zoe models her mardi gras beads.
After the Worcester parade, the spectators head out to the town field for a party. There are food vendors, a bounce house for the kids, and this year there was facepainting. Miranda and Jane volunteered to do a shift at the facepainting station, and Zoe was delighted to get her face painted by her big cousin.
