16 month update

Here are some highlights of what Zoe has been up to lately... Wearing big shoes and trying to walk in them (quite challenging!)
Wearing silly hats (yes, that is a pot lid)

Walking unassisted - finally able to carry things, like this cute doggie from uncle Jim!

Eating TONS of citrus fruits. At one point we were going through 2 boxes of clementines each week!

Coloring with her new crayons...

Practicing walking with her walking toy...(thanks, Baba!)

Climbing into boxes and getting stuck...uh oh!

Zoe now weighs about 20 pounds, and while she can walk she is still working on her balance and often chooses to crawl instead because it's quicker. She is a real talker - we estimate she says about 100 words at this point, although many are hard for anyone but her parents to understand. Recently she has become excited about saying people's names, which is a lot of fun! She still wakes a few times in the night, and we are working hard to encourage her to learn to put herself back to sleep without waking us...wish us luck...after 16 months of interrupted sleep, we are craving a full 8 hours!

She eats all kinds of yummy things at this point, and this morning Zoe ate an entire scrambled egg, which I am very excited about. I have been offering her eggs for months now, and she had always refused them. This morning for some reason, she decided it was time to give eggs a try and she liked them! I am excited about this because eggs are easy to cook and a good source of protein. I eat eggs for breakfast regularly, so this means I don't have to fix her something different. Yay! It also lends support to the idea that kids need to try something 20-30 times before they become accustomed to a new food. The more that Zoe is able to eat the things that we eat, the easier my job as a cook.
