It's official, Zoe no longer nurses. It's been 3 weeks now since she nursed. She has made the transition well and rarely asks to nurse anymore. I, on the other hand, have been very emotional about the whole thing. Although nursing was difficult when Zoe was first born because of her shallow latch, after 2+ years of practice together as a nursing pair we had established a familiar routine that was comforting to both of us. It was a special way to spend quiet time together, and the thing I miss most is holding her in my arms and gazing into her beautiful eyes while she nursed first thing in the morning...precious! Weaning is a clear sign that my sweet baby is growing up fast into a darling little girl.Last week, we had a "bye bye na-na party" for her to celebrate this milestone. Last fall, Nico had a weaning party, and ever since, Zoe has been looking forward to having her own "bye bye na-na party." It was a Sunday morning tea party, and at Zoe's request we had blueberry tea, ginger current scones, and fresh pineapples and blueberries. It was a small party with a few good friends, Nico and his parents Jenny and Jake, Silas and his parents Maggie and Adam, and Zoe's Poppy, our good friend Terry.
