A few new and exciting things have happened in Zoe's life during the past month. She is showing the beginnings of imaginative play! In the picture above, she dressed her bear up in hat, mittens, 2 pairs of tights, and a pair of orange flowered pants, then put on her "purple face" (aka paper bag mask) and asked me to put on some music because the bear wanted to dance. She also enjoys picking imaginary berries and feeding them to us, and the other day she was holding a "tiny Priya" in her hands (Priya is her 3 year old friend) and asked me to give Priya hugs and kisses. When she was done playing with tiny Priya she asked me if she should throw tiny Priya away in the trash. I suggested that she lay tiny Priya down on the couch to rest until she wanted to play with her again.
Another new development is her stamina for walking. She started taking "long" walks with us a few weeks ago. She can walk all the way downtown from our house, which seems like quite a feat given how short her legs are! She loves to walk, prefers to walk, actually, and lately refuses to be carried in our ergo baby carrier and is not thrilled about the stroller either. So, we are moving at a slower pace on our walks these days, however we are getting ample opportunities to stop and smell every flower along the way, greet every cat and dog, and collect lots of rocks. It's really quite enjoyable moving at the pace of a toddler as long as you let go of trying to be anywhere at any particular time. The joy is in the journey, as they say.
